It’s rare for a bar this popular to keep up its quality, but Whisler’s has managed it. Hit the dance floor and enjoy indie-electro-dance music on TuezGayz ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s tunes on Grits & Gravy Thursdays ’80s hits on Footloose Fridays and other themed nights throughout the week. People come to this Red River “video bar” for one reason: to shake their groove thing. We can’t wait to see what’s next for this local juggernaut, which has provided lots of great times via brews like the Fire Eagle IPA and Sputnik Imperial Stout. In February, Austin Beerworks displayed its prowess by tripling the size of its production facility and tacking on a new taproom at its North Austin location. The beer is cheap, the people are friendly, and it’s a piece of local history.
